Overview

The Origination & Advisory (O&A) Business Control Unit (BCU) sits within the Investment Bank reporting to the Head of Non-Financial Risk (NFR).  You will have a mandate for strengthening 1st Line of Defense risk ownership through frameworks, controls, assurance, training and culture.  You will support the Global O&A Leadership Team and work collaboratively across regions with colleagues from all three lines of defense to deliver a best in class control environment. This control has a direct reporting line into the Head of Non-Financial Risk for the Investment Bank and a matrix reporting line into the Origination and Advisory Chief Operating Officer.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide advice and support to O&A’s senior management on all aspects of NFR and drives consistent and standardized processes globally
  • Manages risks to acceptable levels and oversees controls in respect of all risk types impacting the O&A business
  • Provide business-side leadership of the strategic NFR programs, including consideration and adoption of new tools and technologies aiding more effective and efficient controls
  • Ensure key 1st line of defense controls and procedures satisfy legal and regulatory requirements, are appropriately designed, implemented and where necessary, remediated
  • Proactive management of O&A’s global audit portfolio, including partnering with COO/BMs, business leads, 2LOD partners and Group Audit to ensure timely and comprehensive remediation of findings.
  • Set clear direction for the O&A BCU team in line with overall business strategy balancing both global and regional priorities
  • Act as escalation channel, being accountable for performing lessons learned analysis and recommending solutions

Skills You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience within a financial institution, regulator and/or similar environment, with a focus on front office NFR risk & controls
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence, including an ability to synthesize key messages relating to O&A’s non-financial risk landscape, and deliver regular briefings to O&A ExCo members and other senior stakeholders
  • Proven track record of leading and managing teams to perform at a high standard in a challenging environment within tight deadlines
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and experience of creating strategic, long term sustainable solutions in an engaging and collaborative manner
  • Proven leadership qualities with ability to hold stakeholders and partners accountable, manage dependencies, drive execution, ability to influence and steer outcomes
  • Ability to effectively deliver results in environments or projects that are nonlinear, fast-paced, and often characterized by incomplete information and varied stakeholder perspectives
  • Able to build constructive partnerships with peers but also able to challenge when required.  Robust, credible and organizationally savvy, with an ability to grasp complex issues quickly

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office at One Columbus Circle.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $300,000 to $400,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.  Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
