We are recruiting for a HSE Manager (Power) to set the strategic direction of health, safety and environmental compliance within the Centrica Power business for UK&I and our International regions. The role holder will be expected to lead a team of HSE professionals and deliver against the HSE strategy and any associated business plan.
You will define and deliver HSE practices that meet the needs of the business, promote a proactive HSE culture and help guide the development of medium to long term strategies for improvement, efficiencies and effectiveness using new practices and technologies.
This is a UK Based role (can be based from any Centrica UK site location) but regular travel to attend site meetings will be required (travel c30%). Additionally there will be a requirement for some international travel.
Key accountabilities:
Partner with Power Leadership Team to design and develop an industry leading HSE strategy, that reaches across all our international markets whilst recognising the requirements of individual geographies
Drive a culture of relentless focus on improving our HSE throughout the Power business
Hold leaders and colleagues accountable to high standards on all aspects of HSE delivery
Collaborate with peers across Power to share learnings and to leverage expertise that can continue to improve our safety performance across the globe
Act as a thought leader to “bring the outside in”, ensuring professional best practice continually improves everything we do from a HSE perspective
Hold HSE professionals to account for engaging with the business on all aspects of safety and environmental delivery and embedding a high performing culture
Maintain oversight of changing legal and other requirements, appraise leadership on changing requirements and control options, and ensure HSE legislative compliance is maintained
Ensure a deep understanding of the current and changing risk structure of the organisation and develop and implement controls mitigating risk across the Power HSE function.
The Person:
Possess relevant Health, Safety and Environmental Management, Engineering and/or Sciences qualifications e.g. Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
Hold an appropriate professional accreditation e.g. Chartered Member of IOSH, Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Engineer
Extensive experience managing Health, Safety and Environmental compliance within a engineering/large industrial sector
Demonstrable experience of managing complex safety and technical safety risks and environmental compliance risks
Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental culture models and experience of improving organisational culture
Deep knowledge and experience of global HSE practices, legislative requirements and management systems
Proven track record of being a proactive self-starter
Proven track record of leadership and managing a team
Proven track record of influencing, motivating and inspiring organisations at all levels including mentoring senior management teams
Ability to challenge industry norms and proactively seek opportunities to deliver sustained improvement in performance
Proven relationship builder, both internally and externally.
