The Head of Core Tech Platform will design and lead the engineering function for internal platforms, ensuring coherence and enhanced architecture in fragmented systems.
This is a green field leadership role. We’re looking for someone to design, build, and lead the engineering function behind our internal platform services, including onboarding, KYC, authentication, notifications, document handling, and orchestration of other product lines.
These areas currently exist, but are fragmented across different systems with no unified ownership. The incoming leader will be responsible for bringing order to this chaos, designing the long-term architecture, building the team from the ground up, and consolidating these flows into a cohesive platform. We’ll support the hiring and team formation process.
Requirements
Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on backend development experience with Java (Spring Boot).
- Proficiency in modern cloud-native technologies, including AWS EKS, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
- Deep knowledge of high-load, distributed system architecture and operations.
Industry Experience:
- Background in Big Tech or complex fintech environments.
- Valuable experience in identity systems, KYC, internal tooling, or platform-as-a-service offerings.
Engineering Leadership:
- Capability to establish technical standards and backend engineering principles across product teams.
- Experience in mentoring senior engineers and conducting architectural reviews.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills to manage fragmented systems and create unified ownership.
- Collaborative leadership and team-building abilities for forming and guiding new teams
- Fluent Russian and English languages
