Group Tax Analyst

Amex GBT (“GBT”), a US listed Group, has a team of c.15 tax professionals, currently located in the UK, North America & India, whose responsibility it is to manage GBT’s global tax affairs, comprising tax compliance, planning and advice to the business. 

A vacancy has arisen for a UK based, Tax Analyst to join and play an important role within this close-knit team.   The successful applicant will work predominantly across UK corporate tax compliance, but with scope to become involved with international compliance as well as advisory and planning work as part of their development.   

This role can be a fully virtual role and will offer you a unique opportunity to develop your tax knowledge and unrivalled exposure to a truly international company that is focused on delivering its strategy for growth both organically and through acquisition. 

You will typically work on the following:

  • Preparation of the UK Group corporate tax returns, which will include CFC analysis, corporate interest restriction calculations, managing Group Relief, capitals allowances and capital expenditure analyses.
  • Assist with process improvement, identifying and implementing automation where possible.
  • Assist with managing the relationship with the UK Tax Authority
  • Management of requests for certificates of residence across the business
  • Maintain the UK current tax and deferred tax balance sheets for the Group Accounts
  • Preparation of tax provisions for the local UK statutory accounts
  • Assistance with ad-hoc projects as required

To succeed at this role, you will need:

  • Finance or Tax qualification – ACCA/ACA/CTA/ATT or equivalent
  • Excellent written and numerical skills
  • Ability to research and apply local tax legislation.
  • Excellent project management skills

You should also be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • The ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders across the business (eg: internal finance and external advisors)
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical skills and challenging mind, prepared to ask “why” rather than “what”
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of MS office and in particular Excel
  • Experience of Thomson Reuters Onesource products would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience of Netsuite/Planful or similar systems would be advantageous but not essential
