ABOUT THE ROLE
The Group Financial Accountant is a key member of the Group Finance team, responsible for overseeing Treasury and Tax activities while providing financial planning and performance analysis to support business objectives. The role ensures effective cash and liquidity management, compliance with regulatory and accounting requirements, and the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and forecasting. Through strong technical expertise and collaboration with stakeholders across the Group, the postholder will help drive financial control, governance, and informed decision-making.
KEY ACTIVITIES
Treasury
- Oversee the preparation and review of weekly cash flow reports, ensuring accurate forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting of liquidity positions to senior management.
- Oversee foreign exchange hedging activities across the Group, including hedge accounting, effectiveness testing, financial reporting, and compliance with Treasury policies and accounting standards.
- Directing the day-to-day banking relationships and the cash flow of the Group ensuring the Group’s cash flow objectives are met.
- Manage and maintain internal controls across Tax and Treasury processes, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and best practice governance standards.
- Coordinate intercompany funding arrangements, including the administration of intercompany loans, interest charging, settlement of balances, and compliance with treasury policies.
Taxation
- Implementing the well-established group taxation strategy including patent box, RDEC and transfer pricing.
- Liaising with finance managers, tax auditors, and consultants (UK and International) on the preparation of the annual corporation tax computations and deferred tax schedules for the holding company and all subsidiaries.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Preparation of Cashflow and Balance Sheet Budget, Forecasting, and monthly reporting.
- Preparation and reporting of monthly Foreign Exchange impact.
- Preparation and management of KPI dashboard.
- Assistance in Month End Reporting, including gathering of data and narratives.
KEY SKILLS
Essential
- Member of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, or Scotland or comparable institute. Qualified through a medium / large accountancy firm.
- Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Post-qualification experience at financial accountant level in a manufacturing environment, or an acceptable equivalent.
- Professional experience in preparing or reviewing tax computations, tax returns, and a knowledge of deferred taxation.
- Experience in coordinating activities with auditors, tax advisors, and corporate lawyers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including knowledge of computer-based presentation software especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
- Ability to develop financial plans, schedules and manuals including requirements, tasks, work assignments, work calendars, financial controls, financial budgets, financial forecasts, annual business plans, and profitability reports.
- Willingness to travel within the United Kingdom and abroad.
