CTO / CPO – Healthtech Venture

Location: Remote from Europe (no visa sponsorship available)
Commitment: Fractional to Full time (Minimum 50%)
Compensation: Equity driven initially, transitioning to salary + equity after Series A
Start Date: January 2026 (negotiable)
Seniority: Co Founder / Leadership

About the Venture

Millions of people living with rare diseases wait 6–7 years for a correct diagnosis. We are building a solution to change that.

Our venture is developing a privacy first AI platform that helps both:

  • Patients: upload their own health records, genomic data, or symptoms, receive an early risk score for rare diseases, and connect directly to the right medical experts while keeping their data private and secure.
  • Hospitals and pharma: securely detect rare diseases earlier, connect fragmented datasets across institutions, and accelerate matching patients to relevant clinical trials.

The result is a global ecosystem where patients, clinicians, and researchers can collaborate without exposing raw patient data, powered by privacy preserving AI and homomorphic encryption.

We are already active across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia, with our MVP nearly complete and first hospital deployments scheduled.

The Role

We are seeking a hands on CTO / CPO to join the founding team and lead our technology and product development from MVP to global scale.

This is a hands on, technical leadership role not advisory. You will be in the code, reviewing architecture, managing an outsourced development team, and ensuring hospital integrations work in real world settings. Over time, as the team grows, you will shift into more leadership and scaling responsibilities.

You will:

  • Deliver: take the MVP live with hospitals and refine it based on real user feedback.

  • Build: architect, code review, and guide the AI, cloud, and encryption stack.

  • Integrate: ensure seamless hospital system interoperability (EHR/EMR).

  • Certify: lead compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 13485, ISO 27001.

  • Scale: transition from MVP to a robust, secure, and globally deployable platform.

  • Collaborate: work closely with clinical and business stakeholders to ensure product market fit.

Core Responsibilities

Technology (CTO)

  • Roll up sleeves on architecture and coding, reviewing and contributing where needed.

  • Manage and mentor the current outsourced team (~12–15 developers).

  • Guide development across DevOps, backend/frontend, and AI pipelines.

  • Implement and optimise privacy preserving AI (homomorphic encryption, federated learning).

  • Ensure hospital integrations via FHIR, HL7, openEHR APIs.

  • Lead regulatory and security compliance for medical software (MDR, ISO, GDPR, HIPAA).

Product (CPO)

  • Own and deliver the product roadmap from MVP to multi hospital rollout.

  • Conduct user discovery with hospitals, clinicians, and pharma partners.

  • Translate clinical and regulatory needs into product features.

  • Prioritise features that reduce time to diagnosis and enable patient doctor matching.

  • Create feedback loops with early users to continuously improve.

Experience & Skills

Must haves

  • 5+ years in hands on software development (backend, cloud, or AI) plus leadership experience.

  • Proven track record shipping and scaling regulated digital health products.

  • Strong expertise in data privacy, encryption, and secure SaaS.

  • Knowledge of clinical workflows and interoperability standards (FHIR/HL7).

  • Ability to manage outsourced teams and still contribute technically.

  • Comfort with early stage startup environments: lean teams, uncertainty, and rapid iteration.

Bonus

  • Experience in rare diseases, genomics, or patient registries.

  • AI/ML background with model validation and explainability.

  • Familiarity with homomorphic encryption, federated learning, or differential privacy.

  • Track record of integrating software into hospital IT systems.

What You’ll Get
  • Co founder equity and decision making influence — a chance to shape the technical and product vision of a mission driven venture from the ground up.

  • Opportunity to build a globally relevant platform with direct patient impact.

  • The challenge of solving cutting edge problems at the intersection of AI, privacy, and health.

  • Flexible, remote first culture with a strong emphasis on autonomy.

  • Access to world class advisors, while owning and leading the technology roadmap.

  • A purpose driven team that values humility, innovation, and impact.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
