This is an exciting opportunity to Lead the Engineering & Technology, Manex & Digital and Sustainability Vision of Foods BU in LATAM within the context of the E2E Supply Chain. Coordinating the research and identification of potential new solutions for process, pack and digital innovation in the context of future factory transformation. Working collaboratively, this role will identify the capability to make a step change in current Operations and where possible, create new operating capability.

This role will be the “Face of Innovation”, this role will ensure prioritization in line with strategic objectives of the Foods BU to ensure coordination of technology deployment and alignment with Master Plans. Critical to the role is a broad network of internal and external contacts and the capability to leverage strategic partners. Key activities will include organizing Solution Bootcamps, Hackathons, Design Workshops, Tech Surveys, and other such events that will catalyze innovation. This role is responsible for MANEX, Digital and Sustainability projects for LATAM Foods.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

We are looking for a strong, results driven Engineering Director. As a Supply Chain Leader you will manage and improve the performance of our technical teams alongside being responsible for the day to day operational running of our world leading engineering function for Foods BU in LATAM region.

You will have technical expertise gained through deep experience of engineering project execution. Furthermore, a technical background (from design and / or factories and/or R&D processing engineering and construction) coupled with, control and execute all BU Foods CAPEX, strong design skills, excellent leadership skills and the ability to operate and collaborate in a global network. You will be able to communicate technical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders, some of whom may not have a technical background. Besides that, this position is responsible for MANEX agenda for LATAM Foods factories and all sustainability roadmap projects for this category. It is a very robust and complete position that seats on Latam Supply Chain leadership team.

  • Drive Digital & Automation evolution agenda through Technology & Engineering (T&E) projects related with sustainability goals for the Foods BU in LATAM.
  • Drives the technological journey to achieve the Unilever and Foods Sustainability goals such as; Plastic reduction, Zero Carbon Operations, Waste Elimination, etc.
  • Drive Manex Agenda to improve CPT reduction year over year.
  • Provide strategic planning leadership by setting strategies and priorities based upon anticipation and application of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Lead the cluster of Technology & Engineering (T&E) teams, as per core design guidelines from global, construction, and project management to local teams.
  • Analyze processes and systems, to identify and recommend improvements, and execute changes to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Establish a network of collaboration with LATAM & Global Network to continuously improve factory performance from engineering perspective in line with factory master plans.
  • Lead the UMS agenda for all the direct and indirect sites for Foods LATAM.
  • Provide guidance to the site maintenance engineering teams.
  • Support the upskilling of employees with divisional manufacturing technology.
  • Lead the management of CAPEX budget in an efficient way, and support & lead automation projects through the technical expertise (with sustainability mindset, reinforcing our commitment)
  • Lead engineering community across regions whilst managing external relationships with vendors, contractors, and consultants. 
  • Ensure timely input to key site Master Plans, ensuring clear targets, derived from agreed PoCs

Experiences & Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  •  Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant field;
  • Extensive experience in Project Management, Maintenance, Sustainability, Manufacturing or Manufacturing Excellence;
  • Strong leadership skills in line with Unilever’s Standards of Leadership;
  • Experience of change management;
  • Influencing skills;
  • WCM experience;
  • Advanced/Fluent English.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Strong senior leadership experience;
  • Foods Category Experience;
  • Advanced/Fluent Portuguese;
  • Previous experience in Regional Roles.
  • Previous experience as Factory Leader – Supply Leader;
