Working as part of a small, dynamic team to ensure safe, efficient and compliant day-to-day operational management of ScottishPower Renewables' (SPR) wind farm portfolio, you will act as the responsible Field Supervisor for a designated number of sites within the SPR portfolio and pro-actively manage, co-ordinate and close-out local issues directly and via sub-contractors where present.
What you’ll be doing
Ensuring all site activities and safety risks across sites are performed and executed in accordance with applicable SPR Management Systems and OSHAS 45001 Safety Management System, you will ensure all site activities and Environmental risks are in accordance with SPRs ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
Carrying out thorough site-wide safety/technical inspections/audits for allocated sites to produce associated weekly/monthly reports detailing issues and programmes to close-out, you will co-ordinate response and close-out of issues identified during routine site inspections or as identified (i.e. turbine or infrastructure issues and repairs).
Managing sub-contractors to ensure that all site activities are planned and carried out in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring optimal commercial performance of the site without compromising safety, you will attend site as required during periods of non-routine work (both WTG and wider site works) to ensure that contractor activities are being carried out in a safe and compliant manner.
Assuming responsibility for pre-commencement assessment of all work tasks being undertaken on allocated sites in accordance with the SPR Work Control Management Instruction, you will carry out wind turbine inspections and local fault re-setting in accordance with the Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
Providing input to the Area Supervisor/Area Manager to support development and maintenance of OPEX budgets for allocated sites on an annual basis, supporting updates to forecasts in accordance with business reporting calendars, you will assist in the identification of new, development of existing, site-specific, group-wide operating procedures and policies as defined by the Area Supervisor/Area Manager.
In conjunction with the Area Supervisor, you will be required to liaise with internal/external stakeholders including Landowners and emergency services.
Providing 24hr call-out/response for allocated sites in the event of site emergencies, you will carry out limited HV apparatus operations in accordance with SPR Electrical Safety Rules, working with the Area Supervisor to maintain consistent resourcing of the area and support of allocated sites during periods of increased workload, personnel training, holidays and sickness.
What you’ll bring
Possessing sound knowledge of electro-mechanical generating plant and apparatus with practical experience of working under Company Safety Rules or an equivalent 'rule based' system, you will be Educated to HNC/HND/City & Guilds level or equivalent in either an Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
With good organisational and interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change, displaying your high degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work.
Working autonomously with minimal supervision, you will hold previous Windfarm operational management experience and be computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as a minimum, as well as familiarity with SCADA systems.
Experience in Nordex, Vestas Siemens, Ecotechnia or Acciona turbine variants is advantageous.
To be successful in this role you will need a full UK driving licence, a formal working at height qualification, an ability to work within enclosed spaces and a willingness to travel to sites across the entire ScottishPower Renewables operational portfolio.
