Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions and research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).
The Sales Department is responsible for Order Intake and Customer Relations for the Thales Nederland Domain with customers all over the world.
About the team
The Sales team within Thales NL consist of 30 people. It has the end to end responsibility for order intake generation and customer satisfaction. The team works in close cooperation with the bid managers and experts from Finance, Legal, Technical Specialties, etc.… for
- the definition of win strategies for selected projects in our core business,
- the generation of proposal in accordance with the defined win strategies, the successful negotiation of such proposal towards securing contracts.
About the job
The Sales Manager is responsible for the Order Intake in the Ground Based system segment. As such you will join a team of colleagues with regional responsibilities to sell our Air Surveillance and Multi Mission radars such as GM200 MM/C and SMART-L MM.
In your Sales Manager capacity you will be responsible for the long-term relation with the international customers and partners. As part of the Sales Force you will start by mostly addressing projects on the basis of our Ground Based Radar portfolio. Your responsibility will range from business development, sales (including the development of value propositions for products and solutions) and services up to the ‘In Service Support’ of the delivered solutions. An important part of your mission will rely on close cooperation with the Thales International organization (DGDI), who are based in the countries of our customers and who will form an integral part of the capture campaign teams.
Your core activities will consist of:
- Managing the internal and external customer relationship: what does your customer need and how can we support the customer;
- Maintain and grow your network with (local) partners, embassies, customers and armed forces staff in your region
- Develop potential matches between Customer needs and Thales-NL’s products, solutions, capabilities and contacts in both Dutch government and industry. The responsibilities of the Sales Manager includes business development, defining the strategy, partnership development, negotiations and closing the deals.
- Respond to External and Internal Requests for Proposals where you contribute to the commercial portion of the proposal and you carry final responsibility for the delivery of the proposals, combining the functions of Capture Leader, Commercial Manager, Proposal Manager while overseeing the offered products and or service;
- Capturing contracts by proposing winning offers and successfully negotiate profitable contracts;
- Liaise with the international Thales organization in the customer country;
- Coordinate your activities with other units of the group that may have interest in the country where you are responsible, or may be responsible for product related to the projects you are following.
About you
- Has experience in Army / AirForce domain, in particular in counter battery / air defense needs;
- Has a proven track record in Business to Government and Business to Business sales;
- Is driven by developing opportunities and reaching results;
- Has the experience to understand and support customers to define the key requirements;
- Is able to match and translate customer needs into a Thales value proposition;
- Has demonstrably commercial skills and technical knowledge to explain solutions to the customer;
- Is a master in Consultative selling and building a strong sustainable relation with customers;
- Is a team player and is able to mobilize the expertise and workforce needed;
- Communicates clearly and open on all levels;
- Is able to work in a quickly changing environment;
- Is prepared to travel in Europe and beyond if needed;
