Boeing Technology Innovation-Europe is seeking Experienced Systems Safety Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Model Based Safety and Platform Systems from our offices in Madrid, Spain. The System Safety Engineer will be part of the Digital Engineering (DE) Innovation Hub, a global initiative with the mission of supporting Boeing’s transition to Digital Engineering. The selected candidate will focus on the development, deployment, and execution of system safety analysis, product security analysis and solutions using advanced model-based approaches.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Providing safety analysis and product security expertise to program stakeholders and leadership 

  • Utilize Model Based Engineering/Digital Engineering tools to analyze architectures/designs and develop safety deliverables

  • Conduct research in the area of systems engineering, systems safety and product security, with emphasis in Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA), Product Security Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, methods, training and tools

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Systems Safety, Product Security and/or Systems Engineering

  • Experience with ARP4761A, DO-326/DO-356, ARP4754B, MIL-STD-882E or similar 

  • Fluent in both verbal and written English  

  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally  

  • Must be legally able to work in Europe 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • 1+ years of experience performing system safety analysis. Working knowledge of Hazard Analyses, FMEA's, Airplane Level Threats (Particular Risk Analyses) and Fault Trees and/or System Safety Assessments (SSAs)

  • 1+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements and procedures 

  • Experience with FAR Part 25.1309, and industry practices like ARP4761, ARP4754, DO-326/DO-356

  • 1+ years of experience in Commercial Airplane-Systems design or analysis (e.g. Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Avionics, Fuels, etc.) or Systems Integration 

  • Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model Based Engineering application and toolsets (such as MATLAB Simulink, SCADE, Cameo, Rhapsody, CAFTA, PTC Windchill, 3DX, etc.) 

  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies 

  • Pilots license is a plus

 

Relocation: 

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. 

 

Typical Education: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Spain. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Spain. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
