At Capita, we’re looking for compassionate and detail-oriented professionals to join our Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) as Functional Specialists.

We are seeking experienced and committed approved WCA Functional to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll use your clinical knowledge to carry out functional assessments and compile evidence-based reports that help the Northern Ireland Department for Communities (NIDfC) make informed decisions about benefit claims.

About Capita HAAS 

We were awarded two contracts to deliver the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) assessments in the Midlands and Wales for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and in Northern Ireland for the Department for Communities (DfC). 

We deliver assessments for a variety of different benefits, including delivering PIP, WCA and Specialist benefit assessments across the Midlands and Wales, and in Northern Ireland. 

Job Description

What You’ll be doing :

  • Conduct telephone functional assessments of individuals with disabilities or health conditions.
  • Compile clear, concise and factual medical reports - no treatment or diagnosis required.
  • Collaborate with Regional Managers and administrators to meet service level agreements.
  • Use IT systems to support clinical decision-making and report writing.
  • Embrace ongoing feedback and professional development.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking for :

  • Evidence of recent benefit-related assessment activity within the last three months - the Fast Track approval route for an experienced WCA assessor requires this.
  • DfC / DWP Approval as a WCA Assessor.
  • One year's post-registration experience as a nurse (RMN, RNLD, RGN), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, paramedic or doctor.
  • Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, GMC), without restriction or conditions and with a valid PIN.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • A professional, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to undergo BPSS security clearance.

Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete government baseline personnel security standard vetting. This is the recognised standard for the pre-employment screening of individuals with access to government ass
