About Envitia

At Envitia, we help organisations make better use of their data to solve complex problems and make smarter decisions.

For more than 30 years, we’ve worked alongside customers across Defence, Government and National Security, combining deep technical expertise with consulting experience to deliver software, data solutions and transformation programmes that make a real difference.

Our work spans everything from geospatial intelligence and data platforms through to advanced analytics, AI and digital transformation. Most importantly, we work closely with our customers to understand what they’re trying to achieve and help turn strategy into practical, lasting outcomes.

We’re proud to have been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Top 100 Medium-Sized Companies, reflecting the culture we’ve built around collaboration, innovation and giving our people the opportunity to do their best work.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect who enjoys working at the intersection of business strategy, technology and organisational change.

You’ll work directly with customers across Central Government and Defence, helping senior leaders make sense of complex challenges, define where they want to get to, and build realistic strategies and roadmaps to get there.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply produce architecture artefacts and hand them over. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting close to the customer, asking the right questions, challenging thinking where needed, and helping organisations turn strategy into meaningful change.

You’ll shape enterprise architectures, Target Operating Models, capability roadmaps and transformation strategies, making sure that technology decisions remain firmly connected to wider business objectives.

You’ll also stay involved as those ideas move into delivery, providing architectural leadership, supporting business change and helping customers successfully adopt new capabilities and ways of working.

It’s a great opportunity if you want to influence important Government and Defence programmes, while also playing a key role in growing Envitia’s wider consulting capability.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working closely with senior customer stakeholders to understand their strategic priorities, challenges and transformation goals.
  • Leading the development of enterprise architecture strategies that bring together business, data, applications, technology and security.
  • Helping customers translate complex organisational challenges into clear future-state architectures and practical transformation roadmaps.
  • Designing Target Operating Models (TOMs), capability models and operating frameworks that support sustainable organisational change.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, providing clear and pragmatic guidance rather than architecture for architecture’s sake.
  • Establishing architecture governance and assurance approaches that help customers make better, more consistent decisions.
  • Providing architectural leadership across complex transformation programmes, from early strategy and discovery through to delivery and transition.
  • Working alongside delivery teams, SMEs and customer stakeholders to ensure strategy translates successfully into implementation.
  • Supporting the adoption of new technology, processes and ways of working so customers realise the intended value from transformation.
  • Contributing to Envitia’s growth through client conversations, solution shaping, proposals and thought leadership.
  • Sharing your experience with colleagues and helping develop our growing architecture and consulting community.

What We’re Looking For

We’re less interested in someone who simply knows an architecture framework inside out and more interested in how you’ve used architecture to help organisations solve real problems.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Strong Enterprise Architecture experience gained within a consulting or client-facing environment.
  • Experience working with Central Government and/or Defence organisations.
  • The confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders, build trusted relationships and constructively challenge established thinking.
  • Broad architecture knowledge across business, data, application, technology and security domains.
  • Experience developing enterprise strategies, target-state architectures, capability models and transformation roadmaps.
  • Practical knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, with the judgement to adapt frameworks to the needs of the customer rather than simply follow a methodology.
  • Experience designing Target Operating Models and supporting wider organisational or business transformation.
  • An understanding of modern cloud and digital environments, including platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Experience establishing architecture governance, assurance and effective decision-making approaches.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ideally some experience supporting proposals, shaping new opportunities or developing client relationships.
  • Most importantly, a consulting mindset: curious, collaborative, comfortable with ambiguity and motivated by delivering genuine outcomes for customers.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of our work, you’ll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.

Location & Hybrid Working

We offer flexible working, with this role requiring attendance at our Horsham office around two days per month, alongside travel to customer sites across the UK when required.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
