About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to help scale our engineering culture, delivery consistency, and team performance in a fully remote environment.
You’ll lead a group of talented engineers (roughly 6–15) who own their projects end-to-end. Partnering closely with our Principal and Lead Engineers, you’ll ensure strong delivery, foster growth, and drive accountability. This is a people-focused leadership role — ideal for someone who has previously coded but now thrives on building and developing high-performing teams.
We’re scaling rapidly while maintaining the agility that defines us. Our engineering priorities include improving release confidence and uptime, increasing delivery velocity, enhancing data quality and security, and deepening AI integration across our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, and growth plans.
- Drive performance management with clarity, empathy, and accountability.
- Be a key contributor to performance management and benchmarking.
- Build a culture of ownership, trust, and psychological safety across a globally distributed team.
- Contribute to improving developer productivity.
- Ensure sound engineering practices across CI/CD, release, and quality workflows.
- Align technical delivery with business goals in collaboration with the VP of Engineering.
- Plan and oversee delivery within a Kanban workflow — balancing speed and quality.
- Communicate status, risks, and priorities clearly to stakeholders.
- Support incident management and ensure learnings lead to tangible improvements.
- Champion continuous improvement in how we design, build, and scale our SaaS platform.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years experience leading software engineering teams / pods in small, fast-moving SaaS environments (15–50 engineers) with cross team collaboration.
- Strong organizational and execution skills — able to balance multiple priorities.
- Prior background as a software engineer with solid understanding of cloud-native systems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and quality-driven delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop senior and mid-level engineers and manage underperformance.
- Skilled in balancing autonomy and accountability in a remote-first environment.
- Familiarity with Kanban or other continuous-flow models (pragmatic, not process-heavy).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Outcome-focused, with a demonstrated ability to elevate engineering effectiveness and align technical delivery with business value and goals.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance (SOC 2, GDPR).
- Exposure to large-scale data or analytics platforms.
Benefits:
- Fully remote working
- £750 home office allowance
- £200 personal development allowance
- Private Healthcare through Bupa (covering pre-existing conditions)
- Dental Scheme through Bupa
- Pension scheme
- 25 days holiday plus public/bank holidays
- A day off for your birthday!
- Women in Business NI Membership
- A truly flexible working culture
- Quarterly meet ups
- Virtual office to hang out with colleagues
