Engineering Manager - SAP Solutions, Trento
Job Description
At SUSE - SAP Technology Solutions, our mission is to simplify and modernize the operations of SAP software.
Help one of our engineering teams in developing project Trento, the latest addition to an extensive stack of tools specifically tailored for very complex and mission-critical workloads like SAP HANA databases and the S4/HANA enterprise applications.
Our typical users are SAP system administrators who leverage our “SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Application” operative system to run their most critical workloads. These are huge operations, like global manufacturers, retailers and logistics: few minutes of downtime may cause huge losses in revenue; we want to enable them in preventing this from happening.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to serve the team and help them to perform at their best. If Linux, distributed systems, HA and mission-critical environments, plus the opensource and international culture motivates you, then this may be your place.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example by empowering the team members, by being a role model, by mentoring and coaching and by giving the team responsibility and the opportunity to grow
- Foster a culture of open-minded people, with a passion for open-source and innovation, caring for the needs of our growing customer base.
- Drive the development, ensuring timely delivery, high-quality while being flexible to adapt to a fast-changing market
- Drive diverse thinking and problem-solving building an environment for collaboration and sharing between team members, as well, with externals.
What do we expect from you
- You know that your success is in serving your team and making them shine.
- Proactiveness. You need to be able to foresee problems and make process improvements continuously.
- Technical proficiency. You should be able to understand and provide guidance to the team when needed.
- Experience in software development teams management is a must.
- Experience with Agile methodologies is a big plus.
- Good English and communication/presentation skills.
- Experience with running SAP and Clustered technologies is a plus.
Education and Experience Required:
- First level university degree or equivalent experience required.
- Advanced university degree preferred.
- Typically 10 or more years of related work experience, including 5 or more years of people management experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and management.
- Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experienced in managing human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
- Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language.
- Superior business acumen, technical knowledge of multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
- Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.
- Strong understanding of the company's policies and processes.
