Job Purpose/Background:
The Emerging Markets Fixed Income Trading team executes all of BlackRock’s EMD cash and derivative products for BlackRock, globally. This includes substantial volumes of government and corporate cash bonds, OTC interest rate and credit derivatives. The desk supports a variety of internal businesses, including Global Macro and Fixed Income hedge funds, long only funds, ETFs/index funds and the firm’s transition management business. The desk in London, with primary responsibility for the EMEA region, is seeking a trader to work as part of a highly collaborative and dynamic global business.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with portfolio managers, multiple internal groups and the sell-side, to provide liquidity, best execution, and market flow information for investment. Fundamental knowledge of fixed income cash and derivative products, and familiarity with themes in the changing regulatory environment in bond and swap markets are essential. A keen interest in the Emerging Markets is also a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver best execution across a range of emerging market fixed income instruments, focusing on cash bonds, IRS, CDS, and access products for all BlackRock’s internal businesses.
- Manage orders and trade flow in a risk-controlled manner, maintaining a high sensitivity to fiduciary responsibility, liquidity conditions and market footprint.
- Monitor activity and events across various emerging markets, providing comprehensive and high-quality market coverage to internal stakeholders.
- Gather and synthesise data, market intelligence, technical input, and trade ideas to support investment teams globally.
- Forge strong partnerships with sell-side liquidity providers to ensure the desk meets the needs of BlackRock’s growing Emerging Markets business.
- Coordinate with investment operations, risk, compliance and other internal stakeholders to support ongoing trading activities.
- Work both independently and collaboratively with other BlackRock teams to develop technology solutions that enhance workflow and optimise processes across the platform.
- Contribute to innovation, the development of new markets, and the evolution of the EM ecosystem through a range of internal projects and external initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Solid fundamental knowledge of fixed income cash instruments, credit, and rates derivatives (CDS, IRS, OIS, TRS).
- Strong interest in emerging market economies, with a preference for candidates having 4-5 years of industry experience, particularly in trading execution within a markets environment.
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritise in a high-volume, fast-paced business setting.
- Collaborative attitude, strong work ethic, and demonstrated ability to engage with multiple partners and stakeholders.
- Enthusiastic about working in a diverse team, sharing ideas on execution strategies, market insights, and projects to deliver optimised solutions.
- Highly organised and disciplined, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in Python, Bloomberg API, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel being a plus.

Our hybrid work model
