Business Unit Overview:

Blackrock’s Compliance Department protects Blackrock’s reputation and provides client focused advice.  It understands challenges and advises on the impact of regulation in our business, with the objective of:

  • Actively participating in business decisions to champion our clients’ interests;
  • Collaborating with the business to position Compliance centrally into their daily work;
  • Have client interests at the center of everything we do;
  • Cultivate and enhance the compliance culture within BlackRock;
  • Provide thought leadership, analysis and advice on the impact and implementation of regulation on the businesses and its clients; and,
  • Developing and fostering excellence within the Compliance team.

Role Description:

This individual will join the EMEA Marketing and Distribution Compliance team to focus on the marketing efforts of BlackRock’s EMEA and Global Marketing department, which encompasses BlackRock’s campaigns and social media teams, as well as client communications and Alpha marketing. This is a unique opportunity to assist BlackRock using asset management experience, product knowledge and knowledge of applicable rules and regulations, with a strong retail focus on FCA rules and ESMA rules and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

This individual will be part of the EMEA compliance team as well as being part of a larger global team and will assist in work on projects and initiatives both at a regional level and global level, advise on marketing materials and manage internal stakeholder relationships and deliver on a challenging project pipeline.

  • Collaborate with the marketing teams and advise on marketing rules within EMEA and other rules and regulations related to marketing communications
  • Analyze rules and regulations, including regulatory developments, to assess the commercial impact on marketing
  • Review and advise on marketing materials helping to assess regulatory and business risk
  • Partner with Legal & Compliance colleagues, and business partners on the launch and development of new PMG products and strategies
  • Supporting and assisting the team in the develop educational materials and deliver trainings for business partners
  • Overseeing the management of the team objective and project tracker, and assisting with quarterly MI and reporting, including leveraging MI data to draw insights and identify trends
  • Assisting the update of key policies and procedures, such as disclaimers, content guidelines and matrices with the ability to see opportunity for streamlining with AI
  • Participate on working groups and projects with internal stakeholders in L&C
  • Work closely with global colleagues to help develop and ensure consistency of policies and procedures

Knowledge/experience:

  • 2-4 years of Compliance experience in asset management
  • Understanding of the asset management sector
  • Knowledge of COBS 4, Cross boarder distribution of funds and MIFID II
  • Proven track record in producing high-quality deliverables under competing priorities and adherence to deadlines with the ability to be able to reprioritise quickly, manage ambiguity, regulatory change and evolving business needs with resilience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound and balanced judgment with the ability to calibrate risk thoughtfully, deliver practical commercial sound solutions but without compromising compliance risk
  • High standard of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with business stakeholders
  • Ability to spot and communicate enhancements on processes and procedures, particularly with the use of AI
  • Ability to work on team projects and be self motivated

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years financial services experience with a focus on regulation and asset management;
  • Educated to degree level, possibly with a professional qualification
