Thales Integrated Airspace-protection Systems (IAS) UK designs and manufactures a range of cutting-edge technologies ranging from air surveillance and mission planning systems to missiles. The company specialises in lightweight missiles and the integration of weapon systems into various platforms along with the systems to manage and exploit critical mission planning and air surveillance data. Belfast is also home to the Thales’s global Space Electric Propulsion Integration Centre.

We are recruiting for an Electronics Engineer to join our operations as part of a significant investment into Belfast and to support notable programmes combining advanced technologies with collaborative working to produce world class complex products.

This would be a perfect opportunity for an Electronics Engineer who has gained some exposure to Electronics Design and is looking to push forward there career by taking on more complex technical challenges, being guided by world class mentors within a proven development programme.

What you’ll be doing when you join Thales

As an Electronic Engineer working within our Integrated Airspace team, your responsibilities would include:

  • Design and maintain high quality digital solutions in electronic engineering in accordance with customers' needs and processes to meet project operational requirements
  • Deliver solutions compliant to customer, business and derived requirements
  • Participate in the definition of the architecture and the allocation of functions
  • Support the preparation of technical statements of work for equipment suppliers and management of equipment subcontractors
  • Support the preparation of hardware plans, development of test means and test schedules and their execution
  • Work collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture digital solutions
  • Ensure digital electronics systems, instruments and equipment meet applicable regulations and safety standards

What we’re looking for from you

Degree Qualified or equivalent within relevant STEM subjects which support your day to day working i.e. Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computing, Physics, Mathematics or similar

  • Experience and/or knowledge of digital electronics norms, laws and standards ideally with relevant experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Power Electronics
    • Digital Electronic
    • Analogue Electronics
    • Electronics Architecture
    • High Frequency Electronics
  • Understanding of engineering development, ideally within a safety critical/regulated environment
  • problem-solving and decision-making skills, which makes you able to approach complex issues with curiosity and determination
  • organisational skills to plan, prioritise workloads, achieve a balanced budget and meet the deadlines, with a clear vision of risks and opportunitie
  • You want to update your expertise continuously and design innovative solutions to fit your customers’ needs

Security Clearance Statement

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance.  Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.  In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
