About the Role


War Room is looking for an experienced Director of Business Development to join our growing team! Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you will be responsible for driving new business revenue through strategic prospecting, relationship development, consultative selling, and closing high-value client partnerships. 


As a key member of the Sales team, you will help identify new market opportunities, refine our go-to-market approach, and accelerate War Room's growth trajectory. This is a hands-on role for a proven seller who thrives on building pipeline, winning business, and creating long-term client partnerships.



What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Drive New Business Growth
    1. Own the full business development lifecycle from prospecting and outreach through discovery, proposal development, negotiation, and close.
    2. Build and execute outbound business development strategies that generate qualified pipeline and new revenue opportunities.
    3. Develop relationships with senior decision-makers across target accounts and industries.
    4. Consistently achieve and exceed pipeline and revenue targets.
  2. Contribute to Growth Strategy
    1. Partner with the Chief Growth Officer to identify market opportunities, target segments, and strategic growth initiatives.
    2. Provide market intelligence and client insights that inform go-to-market decisions.
    3. Collaborate with Marketing and Client Services to strengthen lead generation and client acquisition efforts.
  3. Build Strategic Partnerships
    1. Develop relationships with referral partners, industry organizations, and complementary service providers.
    2. Represent War Room at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  4. Build & Scale the Business Development Function
    1. Manage, coach, and develop the Business Development Representative (BDR) to drive pipeline growth and business development performance.
    2. Establish and continuously improve business development processes, sales methodologies, and outbound strategies.
    3. Monitor pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, conversion rates, and revenue performance to drive continuous improvement.
    4. Help build a scalable business development function that supports War Room's long-term growth.


Skills + Experience

  • 8-12 years of experience in sales or business development, with a proven record of winning new business and driving growth.
  • 3-6 years of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring business development or sales professionals.
  • Track record of closing complex, consultative deals with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to identify new market opportunities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with experience operating in high-growth environments.


Bonus Points

  • Experience selling digital marketing, advertising, media, technology, or professional services.
  • Experience working within an agency environment.
  • Experience building or leading business development teams.


Interview Process

  1. 30-Minute Screening Interview with the People Business Partner to discuss your background, career goals, and alignment with the role.
  2. 45-Minute Interview with the Head of People to explore your leadership experience, working style, and alignment with War Room's values, culture and growth plan.
  3. 45-Minute Interview with the Chief Growth Officer and Chief Marketing Officer focused on your business development experience, sales approach, growth mindset, and ability to identify and pursue new market opportunities.
  4. Business Development Assignment & Presentation, where you'll complete a practical exercise and present your recommendations to the hiring team. This stage is designed to showcase your strategic thinking, business development approach, communication skills, and ability to identify growth opportunities.

This role also includes a commission structure in addition to the base pay. The commission structure includes the ability to earn $45,000 in OTEs.
