The Opportunity
As a DevOps Engineer, you will be working on improving the Perfectscale by DoiT product infrastructure. You'll be collaborating with product managers, and developers from other teams and also participate in product-making decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own Cloud and Kubernetes Environments Design, operate, and maintain highly available production(and non-production) K8s clusters across multiple cloud environments. Ensure security, performance, and observability at scale.
  • Ensure Production Reliability Respond to incidents, lead root cause analysis, and drive long-term fixes. You’ll help define and enforce SLOs, participate in on-call rotations, and continuously improve system reliability.
  • CI/CD for Production Design and evolve production-grade CI/CD pipelines that are secure, automated, and support frequent and safe releases.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Build and maintain IaC for all cloud infrastructure (e.g., Terraform, Helm). Ensure that everything can be reproduced, reviewed, and versioned.
  • Code Contributions & Reviews Contribute infrastructure code and review PRs. We expect you to write high-quality code in tools like Go or Python and treat infrastructure like software.
  • Automation First Identify areas of manual work and automate them—whether it’s scaling clusters, managing secrets, or cleaning up stale environments.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration Work closely with backend, SRE, and security teams to ensure infrastructure supports development and compliance needs.
  • Drive Infrastructure Improvements Propose and lead infrastructure enhancements that improve production performance, scalability, and developer experience.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of DevOps/Infrastructure experience, with a strong track record of supporting production systems at scale
  • 4+ years of hands-on Kubernetes and container experience
  • 4+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP), including VPCs, IAM/RBAC, networking, and security
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines including rollout strategies, secrets, and automated testing (preferably GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with incident response and postmortems—you’ve been on-call and know how to build resilient systems
  • Solid programming skills—can read, write, and debug code (preferably in Go and/or Python) and use code to automate and scale infrastructure
  • Proficient with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) for monitoring, alerting, and tracing production systems
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal), and a collaborative, ownership-driven mindset
  • Startup-ready: Self-organized, proactive, and adaptable. You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and take pride in building systems that just work.
Bonus Points
  • Azure and OpenShift experience
  • Software Engineering experience (developing production systems)
  • Open source contribution to cloud native project/tool

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
