At Hive, we bring people together through unforgettable live experiences. Hive exists to help live events grow. We make it easy for promoters to build strong connections with their audiences via our industry leading platform.

Our Engineering Team owns the code and infra that lets our customers achieve meaningful results with our product, simply, and intuitively.  We process high-volume, real-time data from over 20 integrations (including Ticketmaster and Shopify), manage and query billions of customer data points, and deliver over 100 million emails and SMS messages monthly to our clients' customers. Our developers focus on delivering the right product iterations with speed and precision—building minimum viable products, deploying to production multiple times daily, gathering customer feedback, and refining continuously.

We're seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our growing team and focus on Infrastructure as Code, Security, and Business Continuity planning. Our technologies hosted on AWS include Python, React, Redis, Mongo, SQL, Elasticsearch, and others.

What you will be doing:

  • Enhance the stability, resilience, and availability of critical services, ensuring optimal performance and minimize downtime across all systems.

  • Develop and implement strategies for scalable and repeatable infrastructure, observability, and monitoring that support the organization's growth and expansion.

  • Be the subject matter expert for all things infrastructure. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by driving initiatives and guiding fellow engineers in your area of expertise.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain security and compliance initiatives, including SOC2 requirements, ensuring infrastructure and processes align with best practices

  • Assist in establishing clear incident management baselines, including defining metrics and setting targets, to effectively measure and improve response times and overall system stability.

  • Creating and maintaining documentation for infrastructure and application components, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Contribute to shaping the organization's strategic direction by providing valuable insights and recommendations based on industry trends, best practices, and technical expertise.

What you have:

  • At least 6 years of experience in Infrastructure/DevOps/Site Reliability

  • At least 3 years experience with AWS

  • Familiarity with maintaining uptime KPIs on critical systems

  • Expert with Linux, Kubernetes, and containerized services

  • Experience scaling complex cloud native environments

  • Experience with as many of our existing technologies is a large plus: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Atlantis, DataDog, Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, RDS, Grafana, Sentry, Nginx

Who you are:

  • You’re driven to create impact, leveraging your technical expertise to deliver meaningful outcomes. You approach your work with a sense of urgency and accountability.

  • You’re able to clearly explain complex things you’ve built to others, identifying tradeoffs you made and the hard problems you had to solve

  • You've thrived while working on a semi or fully-remote team (communicate effectively async, work independently, know when to ask for help, self-manage your time and effort). You can articulate your preferred communication & working style to your teammates

Technologies we use & teach

  • Frontend: React, Typescript

  • Backend: Python, Django, RabbitMQ

  • Databases: Redis, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch

  • Infra: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes

Comp/Benefits Package

  • Meaningful salary and equity: You're rewarded based on impact.

    • The compensation range for this role is $123,600 to $187,900 CAD per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This compensation range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to job-related skills, experience and relevant training, and business and organizational needs. New team members typically start between $123,600 - $155,000, based on experience and alignment with the expectations outlined in this posting. This range reflects not just where you begin, but the growth we expect and invest in as you grow at Hive.

  • Fully remote: Work fully remote in Canada, where you’re most productive whether that be from your house, or elsewhere. We just ask that you have legal Canadian work authorization

  • Flexible work hours: Choose your 9-5 as long as it’s not disruptive to your role, team, and Hive.

  • Health + Insurance: Comprehensive health & dental coverage with a parental leave top-up program.

  • Unlimited vacation/PTO: So you can be happy and healthy!

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
