About the role

DS Smith are a market leader in the design, creation, and production of packaging solutions for a range of industries across the world. We work closely with the Product Development, Operations and Marketing departments of top brands across the world, to deliver sustainable, creative, innovative solutions that enhance our customer’s products in-store and throughout supply chains.

We are looking for a fresh thinking Design Implementation Specialist to join our existing Cluster based Design & Innovation team – to support our Sales & Design & Innovation team in ensuring that solutions are effectively deployed maximising operational efficiency and daily customer delight.

Working as part of the North Cluster D&I team, we look to recruit to our Neath site, the role will be based out our packaging site at Neath where we create premium packaging for FMCG, e-Commerce and specialty clients. They all require unique packaging, and we need someone with a passion in design to come and help us develop suitable prototypes meeting our clients’ requirements.

This a great opportunity for a someone who is looking to progress a career in this field as you’ll be taking the designs from across a range of Teams and delivering the end product for our client. The role will provide a platform to progress a career in design as you’ll get to learn the end-to-end design process and be mentored by our team of specialists. There’s lots of opportunity to progress within this field at DS Smith if you have the flair and the passion for design.

Working with a focussed team you will develop the designs ensuring the end product is in line with the customer brief. You’ll get exposure to cutting edge CAD, remote collaboration technology and sustainability software to develop creative packaging solutions for a wide range of products and customer types.

About you

Minimum requirements

  • A proactive team player – who can demonstrate energy and enthusiasm to inspire customers and colleagues.

  • Shows curiosity and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge.

  • Technical mindset

  • IT literacy (MS Packages essential)

  • Effective communication skills

  • Great attention to detail

  • Problem solving abilities in tight timescales

  • Ability to work under pressure in peak times

Desired requirements

  • Recognised Packaging industry qualification - or equivalent experience

  • Experienced with design tools such as CAD and platform sharing tools & applications.

  • A solid understanding of 2d and 3d design

  • Adobe Creative Suite skills

  • Previous working experience in a similar role, but not essential.
