Undergraduate Placement Programme:

12-month Paid Placement: We are offering a paid 12-month placement opportunity for a second-year university student to join our Design Engineering team. Position Overview:

As part of their placement, the successful design Engineer will work as part of the design team, helping to design and develop cutting edge audio and video services/systems. You will be involved in the lifecycle of the overall internal AV/VC technology strategy.

What You'll Do:

  • Contribute to the development of AV design briefs, including site surveys, needs analysis, concept development and the creation of preliminary system layouts and specifications.
  • Produce AV system designs, signal flow diagrams, equipment schedules, and supporting documentation, providing clear technical guidance throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, manufacturers, and clients to ensure design intent is understood, coordinated, and delivered effectively.
  • Provide technical direction to contractors, installers and relevant stakeholders during all stages of construction, including design reviews, site inspections and attendance at project meetings.
  • Utilise industry-standard design tools and software to develop system documentation, ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with project requirements.
  • Work to agreed project programmes and deadlines in coordination with Project Managers, proactively communicating progress and risks.
  • Undertake training as required or identified by management to support continued professional development and enhance capability within the role.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the company that fall within the competence of the post-holder.

Essential Criteria:

  • Competence in using design or technical software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or similar), or a willingness to learn quickly.
  • Working towards a 3rd level relevant degree with expected classification of 2:1
  • Familiar with technical drawings.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Be eligible and willing to travel to client sites
  • Responsible and reliable, capable of working alone as well as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively with customers and other stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent customer service and troubleshooting skills with a strong service orientation focus.
  • Must have critical thinking ability, problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong, technical, analytical and numerical skills.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change, to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Right to work in the UK
