The Data Architect (m/f/x) is responsible for architecting, standardising, and evolving Tipico’s data warehouse and solutions. Much like a midfield maestro, you will define the perfect data models, ETL/ELT frameworks, and pipelines—the strategic formations—that power all our analytics, reporting, and data science plays. You bridge the gap between business and tech, ensuring every data "pass" is perfectly mapped from source to analytical need, guaranteeing consistency, scalability, and technical quality across all data solutions in collaboration with our engineering teams.
Your playing field:
- Design and maintain the high-performance architecture of our enterprise data warehouse and solutions, ensuring peak scalability, blistering speed, and easy maintainability.
- Own and govern the conceptual, logical, and physical data models, ensuring every structure aligns perfectly with our business goals and analytical demands.
- Define the blueprint for our ETL/ELT frameworks, guiding the implementation of efficient, reusable, and rock-solid data pipelines—for both batch processing and real-time insights.
- Act as the technical cornerstone, empowering multiple data engineering squads (internal and external) to build standardised, high-quality, and efficient solutions.
- Expertly translate complex business and analytical needs into technical data models and architecture components, mapping the entire data flow from source system kick-off to final consumption.
- Work as a crucial team player with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Analytics, and Data Science teams to guarantee technical designs are a perfect match for project goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Data Architect to ensure all local data solutions seamlessly adhere to the wider enterprise strategy and standards.
- Champion data governance, ensuring the consistency, security, and top-tier quality of our most valuable data assets.
- Continuously evaluate emerging data technologies and best practices to dramatically enhance our solution design and engineering efficiency.
Which skills should you bring to the pitch:
- Education. University Degree or higher in a computer science, data, AI or similar.
- Expertise. 5+ year of experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT design, and data modelling. Proven experience designing and implementing data-centric solutions across multiple teams.
- Industry Knowledge. Experience in online, iGaming, e-commerce, or other data-driven environments.
- Cloud & Core Data Stack. Deep expertise with AWS RedShift in large-scale production, a strong background in core AWS data services (S3, Athena, Spectrum, EC2, EMR, Batch & Lambda), and proficiency in SQL and designing complex, business-aligned data models.
- Engineering & Pipelines. Strong experience with ETL/ELT development for DWH processes, proven ability to design and implement robust batch and real-time ingestion and transformation frameworks, and familiarity with containerisation and CI/CD tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Big Data Ecosystem. Strong experience with big data technologies (Airflow, NIFI, Kafka, Spark, Logstash) and data lake formats (Iceberg, Hudi), alongside experience with time-series/analytics databases like Elasticsearch and OpenSearch.
- Architecture & Languages. Proficiency in data modelling for scalable analytical and operational systems, experience in Java, Scala, and/or Python within Unix/Linux environments (on-premises and cloud), and working knowledge of modern data design patterns (e.g., Data Mesh, Data Fabric).
- Governance & Strategy. Strong understanding of metadata management, schema evolution, and version control, coupled with knowledge of BI and analytics environments and their specific data dependencies.
