The Edinburgh Information Security Internships has opportunities across up to 8 distinct roles and is a rising tech hub that hosts one of the most diverse Cyber teams in the firm.
These are 12-15 month full-time placement internship vacancies. These positions will start in June 2026 and complete in August 2027.

Cyber Data Protection
As data protection intern, you will learn about monitoring and investigating abnormal user activity. This is a fast-growing and specialist field with several former interns operating in the team today, and an exciting opportunity to participate in a sought-after data loss prevention (DLP) and insider threat program.
Cyber Security Operations
Security Operations play a critical role in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents. You will gain hands-on experience in the heart of our cyber security operations learning about network security, cyber vulnerabilities, forensics and threat techniques.
Cyber Administration
Working with the regional security officers and COO team, you will get hands on experience working with the wider BlackRock business areas providing internal updates and awareness about new controls or features being deployed to protect the firm and respond to external clients about our controls.
Cyber Software Engineer
A full stack software engineer, writing software solutions in Java, Angular and Python. You will undertake formal internal developer training and mentored by former interns and experienced engineers. Your role will contribute to security solutions that enhances the firm’s security threat detection, compliance, entitlement management and audit assurance programs.
Cyber Infrastructure & Tooling Engineer
Your role will involve maintaining and improving operational resilience and supporting internal applications. You’ll be mentored by experienced engineers and exposed to a wide range of security infrastructure initiatives from alerting and dashboard creation to onboarding process improvements and risk reviews. You’ll gain hands-on experience with numerous systems like Splunk ITSI, Trellix ETP, LastPass, and PRTG.
Cyber Observability Engineer
You will learn how to work in a security data engineering team, building and maintaining systems that ensure reliability, visibility, and trust in data to make security decisions. You will work on solutions that include Splunk, Cribl, Apache Airflow, and Anvilogic, integrating observability and automation across complex data environments. You will undertake formal internal training and be mentored by colleagues with years of experience.
Cyber Data Engineering
Data Analytics are responsible for data mining and development of data products using Python, SQL and business intelligence tools. You will be mentored by others and produce insights into an extensive dataset the company consumes and produces, proactively reducing the firm’s risk posture and enhancing insights across our security infrastructure.
Cyber Pen Tester
Dedicated to securing our cutting-edge applications, ensuring the security and integrity of our internal or external software applications. You’ll gain hands-on experience with comprehensive code review tools and security testing. Your responsibilities will include performing static and dynamic code analysis, software composition analysis, and penetration testing to identify and resolve security vulnerabilities.

Our hybrid work model
