The role requires flexibility to work across a range of operational functions including freight and tourist check-in, vehicle marshalling, bus driving, vessel discharge and loading operations, traffic management, and general terminal support. The postholder will work as part of the wider operations team to ensure ferry schedules are maintained, customer service standards are achieved, and all activities are carried out safely and securely.
Key responsibilities and duties:
· Assist with vessel arrival and departure operations.
· Marshall freight vehicles, tourist vehicles, coaches, and foot passengers safely and efficiently within terminal areas.
· Direct traffic to designated check-in lanes, holding compounds, loading lanes, and vessel embarkation points.
· Support vessel loading and discharge activities in accordance with operational procedures.
· Maintain clear and safe traffic flows throughout the terminal.
· Monitor vehicle holding areas and optimise lane utilisation to maximise terminal efficiency.
· Conduct routine operational inspections and report defects, hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
· Experience operating within a safety-critical environment.
· Experience working as part of a team.
· Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
· Previous experience within ports, shipping, logistics, transport, or ferry operations.
· Experience of vehicle marshalling or traffic management.
· Experience operating passenger transport vehicles.
