Why Polar?

It's never been easier to build, ship and scale software.

But it's never been harder to monetize it.

We're obsessed over solving this to empower the future one-developer unicorns.

These unicorns will be rare but inevitable. Whether in 3, 5, or 10+ years, they also symbolize a broader shift already in motion and accelerating:

  • Smaller & smaller teams with...

  • Exponential revenue/employee growth

  • Focusing fully on their core product and marketing. Delegating & automating everything else that's boilerplate – be it in their codebase or business operations.

Exceptional billing primitives, APIs, SDKs and abstractions are a crucial foundation, but not enough. They will need a full-fledged platform to oversee, manage and scale their business.

Turning their software into an international business in 6 lines of code.

Join our small, talented and engineering-led team across Europe to shape how future software businesses are built. We focus on shipping at high velocity to serve developers in unlocking their next stage with their business. Everything else is secondary.

Role & responsibilities

We’re hiring a Community Manager to build and nurture a thriving developer community around Polar. You’ll be responsible for making our community spaces welcoming, high-signal, and valuable for every member.

Reporting to our Head of Developer Relations, you’ll focus on day-to-day community health: onboarding new members, supporting existing ones, running programs and events, and making sure developers thrive within the Polar community.

  • Own and grow our community spaces (Discord, GitHub, forums) — ensuring they’re active, inclusive, and high-quality

  • Welcome new developers, answer questions, and connect them with the right resources

  • Run community programs: AMAs, office hours, contributor spotlights, hackathons, and more

  • Collect, organize, and share community feedback with the team

  • Write community updates: newsletters, blog posts, and highlights of developers using Polar

  • Support open source contributors: onboarding, recognition, and contributor experience improvements.

  • Build a Community Reward program to celebrate contributors within our community. From helping others to contributing to docs, codebase and more.

  • Partner with the Head of DevRel on events, campaigns, and storytelling initiatives

  • Experiment with new ways to create engagement and momentum in the community

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in startup community management, developer advocacy, or related roles

  • Exceptional communicator and relationship builder who knows how to build trust and energy within communities and 1:1

  • Strong organizational skills. Capable of running multiple community programs at once

  • Passionate about open source, developer tools, helping builders succeed and celebrating their wins

  • You’ve successfully launched and grown community programs before

  • (Bonus) You’ve built your own side projects or been an active participant in developer communities and open source initiatives

  • (Bonus) Experience in education or creator ecosystems

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
