Description

Job Purpose

The Chief of Staff to the President (‘CoS’) has three primary elements to their role - strategic support to the President; key project management and strategic planning; and communication and coordination.

In supporting the President, the CoS is responsible for driving and  enhancing the President’s operational effectiveness through coordination, oversight, and execution support across a range of internal initiatives and business priorities. Acting as a true partner the CoS ensures the President is prepared and has the information and materials required to make strategic decisions, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

The CoS partners across the business and externally to translate decisions into actions, ensuring projects are mapped out clearly and tracked effectively  and that any concerns or deviations are addressed. Where delegated, the CoS represents the President, making decisions inline with their delegated authority.

This is a very visible role with a focus on communication, organization and execution.

The position requires frequent travel to participate in executive meetings and attend internal and external events and workshops, ensuring the President is kept fully informed when not present.

Success in this role will require establishing trusted working relationships with senior leaders and functional teams, focusing on aligning their priorities with those of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Planning & Execution

  • Drive key internal initiatives and ensure alignment with the President’s operational priorities.
  • Track progress on company OKRs, escalate risks to delivery, and ensure cross-functional accountability.
  • Identify process bottlenecks - solving these where possible and partnering with relevant teams to ensure these are addressed and resolved where they sit outside the President’s Office.

Internal Communications & Coordination

  • Act as liaison between the President and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear updates and minimizing delays.
  • Focus on ensuring clarity of messaging (between the above parties and throughout the organization) and alignment on objectives.
  • Prepare internal updates, briefing documents, and executive summaries for leadership meetings and business reviews. Ensure actions are noted and addressed.
  • Facilitate decision-making through coordination amongst relevant stakeholders.

Strategic Project Management

  • Lead and support projects that drive organizational improvements and operational excellence.
  • Manage interdepartmental initiatives, ensuring timelines, resources, and milestones are aligned and achieved.
  • Follow through on action items and ensure initiatives are completed to a high standard.

Organizational Rhythm & Meeting Management

  • Organize executive meetings, support agenda-setting, document preparation, and action tracking.
  • Coordinate internal forums such as leadership check-ins, planning sessions, and all-hands meetings.
  • Ensure seamless internal operations, especially during periods of rapid change or company scaling.

Cross-Functional Support & Culture Building

  • Collaborate with internal teams to embed cultural initiatives and reinforce shared values.
  • Build trusted relationships across the organisation and externally, serving as a liaison on behalf of the President when needed.
  • Support the President’s involvement in employee engagement, feedback loops, and operational decisions.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
