We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

We’re the pride of Ireland. Bord Gáis Energy have been powering the nation’s homes and businesses for almost 40 years. But now, we’re so much more than just gas and electric. Through our unique combination of household heroes and energy assets, we’re at the heart of the energy transition in Ireland, strengthening the country’s energy security and helping customers get ready for a net zero future.

Are you strategic and commercially minded with a passion for driving growth in the energy sector? We’re looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead the end‑to‑end sales process for Large Energy Users (LEU) and other large daily metered customers across Ireland. This is a high‑impact role in a fast‑growing market segment where BGE Business is focused on expanding our presence.

As our BDM for the LEU segment, you will develop sales strategies, shape product and solution offerings, ensure robust risk management, and deliver strong commercial performance across this critical channel.

Key Accountabilities:

Sales Leadership & Commercial Delivery

  • Own all sales, volume, margin acquisition and retention targets for the LEU customer segment.
  • Lead the full sales cycle across natural gas, biomethane, renewable electricity, solar PV, CPPA, EEOS and CBS services & solutions.
  • Work cross‑functionally with B2B, Pricing, Trading, CBS and Centrica Business teams to build market‑leading propositions.

Strategy, Market Development & Customer Insight

  • Define market and industry segments to shape a targeted sales and marketing plan.
  • Develop BGE’s value proposition for strategic markets such as Data Centres, expected to represent 30% of Ireland’s grid usage by 2030.
  • Build strong networks within key trade bodies, associations, and customer groups.

Risk, Performance & Reporting

  • Ensure all activity complies with BGE and Group risk policies, contributing to the development of solutions to manage emerging risks.
  • Provide clear, accurate reporting on sales pipelines, channel performance and segment KPIs.
  • Monitor and analyse customer performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Supply key insights to Pricing and Competitive Intelligence teams to support effective pricing strategies.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work with Pricing, Product Development and other internal stakeholders to shape new business requirements and close gaps in our portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Business Support, Finance and wider teams to ensure efficient and effective management of the segment.

Here’s who we’re looking for:

  • Proven sales management experience in a similar channel environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape and implement channel strategies to optimise commercial performance.
  • A lateral thinker who performs effectively under pressure to support commercial outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with an ability to design solutions using wide‑ranging Centrica capabilities.
  • Advanced financial and commercial analysis skills to structure deals with appropriate risk‑return balance.
  • An agile, energetic professional with experience in the utilities sector.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, with a structured approach to documentation and presentation.
  • A collaborative team player able to coordinate across multiple functions and balance volume vs. margin priorities.

Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too. Visit the link below to discover why we’re a great place to work and what being part of more means for you.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
