Our Vision & Why It Matters

At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility.

We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you’re engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.

What You’ll Do

As a BOM Cost Controller, you’ll play a key role in supporting New Product Development by ensuring material costs are accurately tracked, controlled, and aligned to target. Working closely with Procurement and Commercial teams, you’ll provide critical cost insight that underpins tendering, cost of production, and business decision-making.

You’ll analyse Bills of Materials, monitor cost movements, and produce reporting that highlights risks, trends, and opportunities to improve cost performance across projects.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a data-driven and proactive individual with experience in manufacturing, procurement, or engineering environments. You’ll bring strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders to drive cost control and efficiency.

You’ll be comfortable working with complex data sets, ERP systems, and Excel, with the ability to turn analysis into meaningful insight that supports business outcomes.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Syspro
  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g. Qlik)
  • A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience within automotive, bus & coach, or complex manufacturing environments

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
