Hello! We're Teya.

Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance.

At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.

We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street.

We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters.

We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us.

Become a part of our story.

We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.

Your Mission

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative AI Agent Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our AI agents—from design and creation to management and integration. Your work will directly empower our customer relations team and support thousands of merchants throughout Europe. You will build and manage a fleet of sophisticated AI agents that can autonomously handle complex customer inquiries, streamline communication, and enhance our overall service quality. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of customer relations by integrating cutting-edge AI technology into our core operations.Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Create AI Agents: Architect, develop, and train advanced AI agents capable of understanding and responding to a wide range of customer inquiries.

  • AI Agent Management: Implement and maintain robust systems for monitoring the performance, accuracy, and behavior of all AI agents. Optimize agent performance through continuous feedback loops and data analysis.

  • Integration with CRM Tools: Seamlessly integrate AI agents into our existing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools. Ensure agents work harmoniously with human agents and other systems.

  • AI Agent Workflow Automation: Develop complex automation workflows that delegate tasks to AI agents, ensuring smooth handoffs between bots and human agents as needed.

  • Tooling and Infrastructure: Utilize and manage iPaaS platforms to build the necessary integrations for agent operations.

  • Technical Development: Use Python for the development of custom AI agent logic, leveraging libraries and frameworks to build, test, and deploy agents.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and customer support managers to identify new opportunities for AI agent deployment and continuously improve their capabilities.

Your Story

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a role focused on AI, automation, or software engineering.

  • Deep, practical knowledge of AI agents, including their architecture, design principles, and deployment strategies.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in developing complex applications or scripts.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset, with a knack for translating business needs into technical solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with generative AI models and their APIs.

  • Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP): Familiarity with implementing MCP to enable interoperability between AI agents, tools, and applications—ensuring consistent, scalable, and standards-based integrations.

  • Context Engineering: The ability to structure and provide relevant information to an AI model at inference time, including the creation of dynamic prompts and the curation of external data sources to improve an agent's reasoning and accuracy.

  • Knowledge of LangChain and LangGraph: Familiarity with these frameworks for building and managing complex language model applications and stateful agents.

  • Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Knowledge of techniques to improve agent responses by leveraging external knowledge bases.

  • Experience with integrating with external tools like Workato, Zupier, Zendesk, and CRMs.

The Perks

  • We trust you, so we offer flexible working hours, as long it suits both you and your team;

  • Physical and mental health support through our partnership with GymPass giving free access to over 1,500 gyms in the UK, 1-1 therapy, meditation sessions, digital fitness and nutrition apps;

  • Our company offers extended and improved maternity and paternity leave choices, giving employees more flexibility and support;

  • Cycle-to-Work Scheme;

  • Health and Life Insurance;

  • Pension Scheme;

  • 25 days of Annual Leave (+ Bank Holidays);

  • Office snacks every day;

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
