Emerging Companies, UK & Global Product Strategist Role in Fundamental Equities (FE)

The Emerging Companies, UK & Global Product Strategy team in FE is seeking an Associate to be responsible for primarily helping execute the Emerging Companies and UK investment team’s business strategy. The role offers a combination of exposure to the forefront of equity investing / market insights and relationship building / marketing / business strategy / project management.

Role:

This individual will be responsible for providing a link between the investment team and Sales, Global Product Solutions and the team’s global client base.

The role’s primary objective is to act as a fiduciary to our clients and, in doing so, support business growth across the team’s funds, including the Emerging Companies Long/Short products, our UK and Global Small Cap products, our UK Investment Trusts and our UK Equity long-only funds.

This role is suited to someone keen to learn something new every day with a strong interest in financial markets, a desire to be client facing and a willingness to be flexible and go wherever is required. The role could involve the candidate working with other PS and investment teams over time. The candidate will need excellent communication skills, have strong attention to detail and to be technologically proficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building up subject matter expertise as part of working towards becoming client-facing
  • Acting as a key contact and partner for BlackRock relationship managers for the team’s products, including long/short, long only and Investment Trusts
  • Responding to client queries, request for proposals and requests from the Portfolio Managers
  • Writing commentary on market news, fund performance and portfolio activity to be sent to clients
  • Creating presentation materials, shaping the marketing narrative and producing thought leadership content
  • Taking a proactive approach to solving clients’ investment-related, business and operational issues by serving as the liaison between the investment team and all other areas of BlackRock (marketing, sales, compliance, legal etc)
  • Presenting to the broader investment team on various topics
  • Collaborating with product strategists in other FE teams, e.g. on wider FE platform initiatives

Knowledge/Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience in asset management
  • Passion for, and knowledge of equity markets
  • Knowledge of retail / institutional client landscape

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level essential
  • Strong presentation, writing and people skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • IMC preferred (would be required to be taken)
  • CFA qualification helpful but not necessary
  • Foreign language skills preferred but not necessary

  • Strong attention to detail accuracy around spotting data anomalies to ensure client deliverables are sent out with the highest standard
  • Able to manage many tasks at once and meet deadlines often with tight turnaround time
  • Integrity, outstanding work ethic and professional disposition
  • Strong level of self-direction, ownership, organisation, initiative and ability to influence
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude
