YOU WILL BE: 

As the Assistant Planner, you will be responsible for supporting the planning and buying teams during pre- and in-season planning processes. You will work closely with your Planner to achieve sales and profit objectives for merchandise category/ categories, working in conjunction with one or more buying teams.
You will support your Planner with the development and successful execution of financial plans, assortment, and buy plans. The Assistant Planner will also support the buying team with Open to Buy (OTB), receipt management, market prep, and ad hoc merchandise analysis.

YOU WILL DO:

  • Supports in monthly OTB forecasts and presentation

  • Assists their Planner in developing pre-season sales, profit and inventory targets and identifies opportunities and liabilities in season

  • Maintains daily and weekly reports for the merchant team

  • Regularly analyze business at vendor, product category, and classification level and make recommendations to drive the business

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to align on business goals/needs

  • Work effectively with Buying, Planning, Category Growth, and Store Allocation teams

  • Prepare pre-market buy recommendations related to style breadth and unit depth by vendor and channel

  • Take on progressively increased responsibility and ownership of a piece of the business as you progress in your Assistant role.

YOU WILL BRING:

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or commensurate retail experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years in buying, planning or allocation capacity

  • Fundamental understanding of retail math and inventory management

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel

  • Familiar with Merchandising systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A natural problem-solver with a financial and analytical lens

  • You are resourceful and understand the value of being proactive and solution-oriented

  • Detail-oriented

  • Experience working across multiple functions to gather various perspectives to solve a problem

  • Takes initiative on projects and tasks and can handle challenges with confidence
