About this role
We are looking to add a team member to our Capital Markets Data Services (CMDS) team within DIG (Data Integrity Group) in Edinburgh. This team is part of the Aladdin Data organization within Aladdin. The core focus of CMDS is to provide consistent, high‑quality data capture related to public and private new‑issue investments, and to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of that data to various downstream consumers and systems.
This role offers broad exposure to the operational aspects of both public and private new‑issue markets, including private credit, private equity, hedge funds, SPACs, structured products, and other non‑traditional investment types. Qualified candidates will demonstrate existing knowledge of — or enthusiasm to learn — alternative investments, as well as the essential data required to manage them.
Responsibilities
New Issue Investment Setup & Onboarding
- Provide onboarding support for the data capture of alternative products and investment types, including sourcing data from legal documents, fund administrators, agents, and third‑party partners, and coordinating input into internal systems such as Aladdin, eFront, and Unqork.
- Assist in the onboarding lifecycle for alternative investments, with exposure to investment/trade setup, cash management, valuation inputs, and PnL recognition, as well as reconciliation processes and related system implementations.
- Partner with investment teams, GAAPS, Fund Accounting, and Implementations to ensure accurate setup of new private credit and private equity holdings.
- Support Blackrock Global Markets team within the new issue space, including trade allocation and booking within Aladdin.
Data Quality, Reconciliation & Controls
- Assist in trading support and execution functions for private investment funds by monitoring internal and external teams to ensure accurate and timely execution.
- Support data quality initiatives, including security‑level reconciliation, review of loan and bond attributes, internal rating validations, and resolution of operational or data exceptions.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, SOPs, controls, and quality frameworks to support audit readiness and operational consistency
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Issue Resolution
- Work with external service providers, internal business partners, and other BlackRock groups to transmit and receive product and asset‑related data, investigate discrepancies, and resolve operational issues.
- Collaborate closely with partner teams across public and private CMDS to drive alignment, adopt unified workflows, and support cross‑training initiatives.
- Engage with global stakeholders (EMEA, APAC, AMRS) on high‑priority items such as loan maturity confirmations, credit agreement updates, security master enhancements, and private markets onboarding.
Platform & Analytics Support
- Contribute to CMDS reporting initiatives by assisting with monthly metrics, set up reporting, and data quality dashboards across public and private markets.
- Support system enhancements and configuration for Aladdin, eFront, and related data platforms, including updates to rating agency codes, reference data attributes, and security master fields.
- Participate in group projects and initiatives aimed at scaling CMDS operations, enhancing upstream data capture, and building out the Private Data Operations platform.
Experience and Required Skills
Ideal candidates will have:
- 1–3 years of experience in investment operations, private credit operations, data management, accounting, fund administration, or a related financial discipline.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related field (preferred).
- Familiarity with credit agreements, private loan terms, structured credit, or syndicated lending workflows (a plus).
- Experience working with investment operations platforms (e.g., Aladdin, eFront, Bloomberg, etc.) is highly beneficial but not required.
- A data‑oriented profile is preferred.
Additional qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and geographies.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a detail‑oriented approach to data validation and reconciliation.
- Interest in alternative investment products, including private credit, hedge funds, structured products, private equity, and other complex capital structures.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and initiative — comfortable owning processes, improving workflows, and driving outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation).
- Familiarity with SQL is desirable, and basic coding experience (e.g. Python) is a plus, though not a requirement.
