Position Details: 

Toast's expansion into the UK and Ireland represents one of our most significant strategic growth opportunities. London serves as the operational and commercial hub for this crucial, newer market. We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial and senior leader to join us at this pivotal stage to help define and accelerate our commercial footprint. This role is a chance to leverage your experience to establish our brand, scale our sales operations, and build a lasting, high-performing culture from the ground up across both the UK and Ireland markets.

A day in the life (Responsibilities) 

Toast is looking for an Area Vice President (AVP) of Sales for the UK & Ireland to lead the strategy, execution, and continued rapid growth of our entire commercial engine across this region. This role will be the primary commercial leader and Site Leader for our London hub, driving success across the SMB, Growth, Business Development Representative (BDR), and Sales Development Representative (SDR) teams. This is a hands-on, foundational leadership role that reports into the global sales leadership team and is critical to achieving Toast’s ambitious international goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Market Leadership & Strategy: Define, own, and execute the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for the UK and Ireland, adapting global best practices to the unique local restaurant landscape across both nations.
  • Foundation Building & Execution: Establish the framework and scale the BDR/SDR functions to build a robust pipeline generation engine. Directly manage and mentor sales leadership across the SMB and Growth segments, ensuring aggressive revenue targets are consistently met and exceeded across your entire region.
  • Operational Excellence: Roll up your sleeves to implement and optimize sales processes, tooling, and reporting to ensure local efficiency and seamless execution throughout the UK and Ireland.
  • Cross-Functional Bridge: Collaborate extensively with US/Global functions (Product Marketing, Sales Enablement, Onboarding, HR, and Finance) to act as the primary voice of the UK/Ireland market, ensuring support, localization, and alignment to corporate objectives.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Leverage local and global sales data to inform tactical decisions, track progress, and continuously iterate on the commercial model for measurable impact.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

  • A proven track record of successfully leading field sales organizations to achieve aggressive targets.
  • Essential experience in scaling a business in a new or developing international market, with a strong understanding of the commercial landscape across both the UK and Ireland.
  • Strong experience leading and developing multi-segment sales teams, including direct leadership of BDR/SDR functions in addition to field/quota-carrying teams (SMB and Growth segments).
  • Demonstrated ability to act as an area leader and build a strong, independent culture while operating as an extension of a US-based headquarters.
  • The ability to be strategic while maintaining a hands-on, "in the weeds" approach to problem-solving and operational execution is essential.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a strong emphasis on developing and coaching sales leaders and sales representatives.
  • Data-driven mindset with a track record of leveraging analytics to inform local market decisions and measure impact.
  • Strong familiarity with sales tools and systems (e.g., Salesforce, Gong, HubSpot) to optimize seller productivity.
