We have a unique opportunity for an Apprentice Pipe Fitter where you'll earn while you learn!  

As an apprentice, you’ll engage in a hands-on learning experience, developing new skills while building connections with our knowledgeable staff. 
 

What You’ll Do at Work 

  • An apprenticeship with us will see you building new skills, while applying your knowledge to real-world live projects.  

  • You will work closely with out experienced engineers at our clients’ sites. The majority of our sites are in the Cork area, but further travel may be required.   

  • You will learn how to install pipework for Fire Sprinkler systems in Industrial buildings.  

  • Installation of plant items such as Fire pumps, Valve, pumphouse piping etc.   

  • Conduct preventative maintenance of plant items such as Fire pumps, Sprinkler alarm valves.  

  • Trained in the installation and repair of Carbon steel, Ductile Iron and PVC pipework.  

  • Develop skills in installation of mechanical equipment.  

  • You will be trained in the fabrication of pipework, threading, and grooving.  

  • On-the-job training will be provided working closely with our experienced Fire & Security engineers, many of these engineers have also been through our apprenticeship scheme so they are the perfect mentors to guide you through the apprenticeship.

You will be based in Cork working mainly in the Southern Counties of Ireland although you may be required to go further afield

Your Training Course  

Pipefitter level 6 

 

Your Training Plan  

You will be enrolled on a level 6 pipefitting apprenticeship, delivered by our training partners Solas. This apprenticeship is a 4-year program consisting of 7 phases. 4 on-the-job and 3 off-the-job in a training facility. 

You will attend on a block release basis training and receive on-the-job guidance from experienced mentors and engineers. 

 

Requirements / Essential Qualifications 

  • Applicants must have a minimum of grade D in 5 subjects in the Junior Cycle or Leaving Cert exam including Maths and English.  

  • Full Driving Licence is essential.  

  • Colour Vision Test- A person entering employment as an apprentice must pass the "Ishihara" Colour Vision Test 24 Plate Edition. The results of the applicant's colour vision test must be accompanied with the appropriate SOLAS Colour Vision Application Form and a signed passport photograph of the applicant. 

    Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

    This thrilling opportunity is field-based, meaning that you will work alongside our highly skilled engineers, traveling between our clients’ sites each day. Our work may also require heavy lifting and working from heights.

    Upon completion of this apprenticeship there are many internal opportunities within the company 

    Many of our previous apprentices have become lead engineers and take control of their own team and projects

    Salary- 14,255.28 euro

    What’s Next? 

    Suitable candidates will be contacted via email to provide their evidence of required certifications. Once we receive the evidence of certification you will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre, where you will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview.  

    Candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can expect to begin the apprenticeship with Johnson Controls in the late summer of 2025.
