Your role

The position will assist the wider EMEA Commercial Management team providing support to the Global Field Operations (GFO) with accurate and timely commercial support during the entire sales cycle and throughout the company’s internal approval process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

     Under guidance from manager -

  • Respond to requests from GBO team leaders in a timely manner and be able to work to tight customer/internal deadlines.

  • Generate the profit/loss (P&L) analysis in accordance with the OMP for opportunities requiring approvals as per Ciena’s processes and internal governance requirements.

  • Maintain the Bid App and associated files, keeping accurate and updated as deal activity evolves through the entire sales cycle process.

  • Coordinate, manage, organize, and file key documentation related to Ciena's proposal process.

  • Provide support as required to creation of new market or annual business plans/reports.

  • Gather and present regional bid metrics to local senior management.

  • Analyze trends in bid activity, quarter over quarter and help drive improvements required to ensure continued success.

  • Manage timely submissions of contract approval entries for supported region and/or supported accounts.

  • Produce weekly /monthly/quarterly regional reports/returns.

  • Interface with internal functions as and when required such as Operations, Services, Finance, Legal etc

  • Be comfortable working in a global organization.

  • Other tasks as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Analytical

  • Detail-oriented

  • Proactive.

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Able to manage time effectively and work under tight deadlines.

  • Able to work and communicate effectively with a virtual team across multiple geographies and time zones.

  • Understanding of cost accounting principles and P&L analysis.

  • Above average competence in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

EXPERIENCE

College degree required in Finance or Business.

1-2 years of experience working with financial systems or previous commercial management experience preferred.
