Department: Delivery

Location: Home based, UK (with occasional travel to our London office)

Reports to: Service Delivery Manager

Hours: 37.5  per week

Salary: Depending on experience

 

Role Overview 

As a Mentor for the AI Champion Apprenticeship Programme, you will play a crucial role in supporting professionals to drive technological innovation across their organisation. You will help apprentices identify, implement and champion AI technologies across their business to improve efficiency and productivity.

You will have a background in driving productivity improvements and leading digital or operational change, you will empower learners to become confident, capable AI Champions.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support with eligibility professional discussions 
  • Formative and summative assessments against the Knowledge, skills and behaviours of the Apprenticeship Standard
  • Support learners with developing and producing high quality portfolio of projects
  • Support learners to prepare for the Apprenticeship End Point Assessment
  • Provide Ad-hoc technical support and check-in sessions
  • Attend weekly and ad-hoc 1:1 and group mentoring sessions
  • Support with Line manager input and the final employer reference
  • Prepare the learner to enter into Gateway 
  • Provide regular feedback and updates on learner progress to the Learner Success Team 
  • Support the Faculty team with content development and learner support tickets
  • Provide general advice, guidance to all learners 
  • Act as a support point of contact for learners with portfolio queries 
  • To safeguard children and vulnerable adults from harm and to report concerns in accordance with the Cambridge Spark process
  • To develop good relationships and encourage equality of opportunity between different groups and eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • Attend the regular team meetings and provide updates as requested on learner progress
  • To support with any ad-hoc duties or requests that may be reasonably required to successfully carry out the role or to support the business 
 

Candidate Specification: 

Essential

  • Knowledge of or practical experience with modern AI and data tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, Power BI, ChatGPT or related platforms.
  • Experience mentoring, teaching, or coaching professionals in a learning or organisational development context—particularly in roles related to apprenticeships or digital skills.
  • Experience of prioritising workload, working to strict deadlines and following governing procedures and controls 
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting development of other colleagues
  • Conscientious with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure

Desirable

  • Experience in leading business change initiatives, improving productivity through technology, or embedding digital tools into team workflows.
  • Background in education or an AI - related field
 

Interview process: 

  1. Competency based interview + role play (brief to prepare will be shared in the interview invite) - 1 hour
  2. Ways of Working/Meet the Team - 45 minutes
