About the opportunity

Join QIAGEN Digital Insights and help clinical genomics laboratories transform complex genomic data into actionable clinical insights.

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong understanding of clinical genomics, bioinformatics and molecular diagnostics to grow our clinical bioinformatics business across the UK and Ireland.

The ideal candidate will understand the realities of working within clinical genomic and molecular diagnostic laboratories, particularly within the NHS and equivalent diagnostic environments in Ireland. You will be comfortable engaging with clinical scientists, bioinformaticians, laboratory leadership, pathology and genomics teams, as well as procurement and other commercial stakeholders.

This is a consultative sales role requiring both scientific credibility and strong commercial capability. You will develop new opportunities, expand strategic accounts and lead complex sales involving genomic data analysis, variant interpretation and clinical decision-support solutions.

Your tasks

  • Drive growth of QIAGEN’s clinical bioinformatics portfolio across the UK and Ireland, with a focus on clinical genomics, molecular diagnostics and NHS laboratory environments.
  • Identify and develop new business across NHS genomic and molecular diagnostic laboratories, private diagnostic laboratories, academic medical centres and other clinical testing organisations.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline through targeted account development, prospecting and engagement with clinical, laboratory and commercial stakeholders.
  • Understand customers’ NGS, bioinformatics, variant analysis, interpretation and reporting workflows, identifying unmet needs and positioning appropriate solutions.
  • Lead consultative, multi-stakeholder sales processes with clinical scientists, bioinformaticians, laboratory and genomics leaders, and commercial decision-makers, from discovery and technical evaluation through procurement, negotiation and close.
  • Develop strategic customer relationships to drive account growth, adoption, renewals and long-term partnerships, while maintaining accurate pipeline, forecasts and account plans in CRM.
  • Collaborate with Scientific Support, Sales, Marketing and Sales Development, representing QIAGEN at relevant customer meetings and industry events, and providing structured feedback on market developments, customer needs, competitors and emerging bioinformatics requirements.

Your profile

  • Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Science or another relevant life-science discipline; an MSc or PhD would be advantageous.
  • At least three years' relevant commercial experience in clinical genomics, molecular diagnostics, bioinformatics or a closely related field, including experience selling scientific software, genomic analysis, variant interpretation or clinical informatics solutions.
  • Strong practical understanding of NGS workflows, from sequencing data through analysis, interpretation and reporting, with the ability to establish credibility with highly technical customers. Hands-on experience, especially within the NHS, in these areas would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with or selling into NHS laboratories, Genomic Laboratory Hubs, molecular pathology services or comparable clinical diagnostic environments, ideally with an existing professional network within the UK clinical genomics or molecular diagnostics community.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business and managing complex sales involving scientific, clinical, IT, procurement and budget stakeholders, ideally with an understanding of the operational requirements surrounding software implementation within clinical laboratories, including evaluation, validation and stakeholder adoption.
  • Consultative and commercially driven approach, with the ability to understand complex customer workflows, develop strategic relationships and manage a territory independently.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, based in the UK and comfortable travelling regularly across the UK and Ireland, with occasional travel elsewhere in EMEA.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
