Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 16 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.
Role Information:
Glitch Productions is looking for a highly skilled and dedicated 2D Character Layout Artist (North American timezone preferred) to join our team. This role will see you collaborating with our 2D Team to help bring our upcoming anime 2D animated show to life. In particular, we are focusing on experience with hitting the solid humanoid drawings and anime style seen in classic 90's anime such as Cowboy Bebop.
Your duties will include:
- Interpret storyboards and establish the key staging, composition, and acting for each shot.
- Block out character poses and expressions to convey performance, mood, and storytelling clearly.
- Ensure characters are on model and consistent with the show’s style and design.
- Work closely with directors and animation supervisors to clarify creative intent.
- Create clean, accurate layout drawings that serve as a blueprint for animators.
- Stage characters in relation to background layouts and props to support clear visual storytelling.
- Adjust layouts based on feedback and maintain production deadlines.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., animation, background, compositing) to ensure seamless handoff of scenes.
- Maintain file naming conventions and follow studio pipeline processes.
A successful candidate will have:
- 3+ years professional Anime experience and draughtsmanship
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to help motivate and support junior artists, while working efficiently in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.
- Familiarity with asset tracking tools like ShotGrid.
