Movetru, a Belfast-based company operating in the sports technology sector, raised a round of pre-seed funding valued at $1.6 million. Two Magnolias led the round, which was also backed by various investors spanning the U.K., the U.S. and Ireland.

Movetru’s solution tracks athlete health and performance. The company developed a wearable product that provides athletes with real-time movement quality insights to help coaches make better decisions about performance and risk of injury. Movetru’s app-based solution is AI-powered and presents users with pre-analyzed biomechanical data in settings like the field, rehab or the gym.

The new capital will support Movetru’s launch across Europe, extending its tech to clubs, coaches and clinics. Movetru’s devices are currently available for pre-order through the company’s website, where athletes, coaches and sports professionals can also book on-field screenings. The funding will help Movetru continue to scale its operations ahead of a wider commercial rollout.
