Mō te tūranga | About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Senior Data Lineage and Metadata Specialist to join our Data Risk and Compliance team. In this role, you’ll manage the business operations and configuration of our IDMC Business Glossary and Technical asset Catalogue, for a wide range of internal stakeholders.
In this role you will perform in-depth technical data lineage analysis across key systems and processes, work with Data Stewards to translate complex technical code into meaningful business insights and relationships. You’ll support Data Owners in understanding and enhancing data flows, champion data management practices, and drive the adoption of our new IDMC tool for data democratisation and lineage across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
IDMC Business Operations
Led weekly and monthly IDMC Operational and planning forums
Plan new feature drops
Maintain business configurations
Promote the adoption of IDMC and its adoption.
Create processes to maintain IDMC content and support Data Stewards in curation.
Provide training and awareness sessions
Data Lineage & Governance
Apply industry-leading data governance practices
Analyse and document critical processes and data elements
Enhance business definitions, rules, and data quality measures
Assess control environments and ensure alignment with governance principles
Translate technical lineage into standard metadata models
Conduct control assessments across key data processes
Project Management
Collaborate with Technology teams, including IT Architecture and Product Owners
Participate in data domain forums and maintain decision/risk logs
Identify and manage risks, recommending remediation strategies
Ensure consistency across Group and WNZL data lineage artefacts
Report project progress against key pillars and policies
Stakeholder Engagement
Identify opportunities and build business cases for data initiatives
Prepare executive memoranda to support governance initiatives
Influence and promote strong information management practices
Manage communication with senior business partners
Engage with Data Owners, SMEs, and the wider information management community
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
You’ll bring a strong mix of technical expertise and stakeholder engagement skills, with a passion for improving data transparency and quality:
Experience with enterprise data platforms such as Informatica, EDC, or Cloudera Atlas is a strong advantage, particularly prior advanced experience with Informatica Intelligent Data Mgmt Cloud (IDMC) platform.
Proven experience driving change initiatives
Strong understanding of how data connects and moves through the business
Significant experience in business requirements, analysis, modelling and stakeholder management techniques (User stories, user story mapping, UML diagrams, prototyping, process mapping)
Experience with technical writing and documentation
Strong understanding of enterprise data processes, ETL systems and data aggregation techniques.
Good understanding of enterprise Information management and data quality processes.
Advantageous strong experience in Risk Assurance or Credit Risk Analytics
Proficiency in SQL or SAS
