BJAK is expanding into London, and we are building a brand-new design identity for our upcoming product line in the UK and Europe. We’re looking for a Design Director to lead the creative vision for this new brand—not an existing one—while shaping design strategy, user experience, and cross-market creative leadership.
As our Design Director, you will drive design excellence across brand, marketing, and product for our London expansion. You’ll establish the creative direction, build a world-class design team, and ensure our new brand is user-centric, innovative, scalable, and aligned with business ambitions.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransforming the Design TeamBuild and mentor a high-performing, multicultural design team for the London brand (product, brand, graphic, motion, and content designers).
Develop team capabilities through workshops, conferences, and continuous learning.
Cultivate a strong internal design community through town halls, critiques, and collaborative forums.
Lead UK-focused talent acquisition and university recruiting to grow the design pipeline.
Identify user needs and behaviors through research, interviews, surveys, analytics, and usability testing.
Define design requirements to create intuitive, high-quality, and future-ready user experiences.
Lead teams to produce UX patterns, wireframes, screens, prototypes, and design system components for a new brand ecosystem.
Develop forward-thinking concepts and presentations for new business models and market opportunities.
Own and elevate end-to-end customer experiences, including front-end website interactions.
Standardize design quality across teams through reviews, guidelines, and training.
Represent design at leadership levels, collaborating with C-level executives across regions.
Build a shared design language across teams, including education sessions and cross-functional rituals.
Champion design-led decision-making to drive measurable business outcomes such as improved conversion, stronger brand identity, and reduced operational costs.
Host speculative design workshops to explore future user needs and emerging market opportunities.
Embed sustainability, ethics, and inclusive design principles into all processes and standards.
Foster deep cross-functional collaboration across product, engineering, data, and marketing teams.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in design leadership, ideally in technology, fintech, or digital-first businesses.
Proven success in driving business outcomes through design—brand building, revenue impact, and operational efficiency.
A portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, user-centricity, and strong creative vision.
Outstanding leadership, communication, and mentorship skills.
Passionate about building new brands, growing teams, and shaping culture from the ground up.
